How can a Tampa traffic attorney help me get my license back in Florida?

Many Tampa traffic attorneys are often asked about how their clients can get their Florida driver’s license back as soon as possible. As we’ve discussed elsewhere on our Tampa traffic attorneys blog, driving while license suspended or revoked and/or no valid driver’s license are some of the most common charges filed here by the State Attorney’s office in the Tampa Bay area. Further, if an individual is adjudicated three times for the charge of driving while license suspended or revoked in a five year period, the charge is filed as a felony resulting in a maximum sentence of five years in a Florida State prison.  If you have any question as to whether your driver’s license is suspended, please check the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website, we have provided a link to their website.

Generally, the majority of folks required to get their driver’s license back simply have to pay money. Our office has helped countless individuals figure out the exact amount of their fines, court costs and other associated fees in order to get their license back. Unfortunately, this is essentially the first step in getting their license back, but is often the most difficult for folks to raise such funds in such a short term.  These fines often come from unpaid traffic tickets and/or D6 charges.

Another issue individuals may face during the process of getting their driver’s license back is the removal and satisfaction of a D6 suspension. As we have discussed elsewhere in our Tampa traffic attorneys blog, a D6 suspension is essentially a penalty from the Court for failing to either attend traffic court, attend a court hearing, which you set relating to a traffic ticket, or pay a traffic ticket timely. This suspension requires an individual to pay an additional fine in order to get their license unsuspended and reinstated. Unfortunately, D6 suspensions cause more driving while license suspended or revoked charges in the Tampa Bay area than any other suspension or penalty.

Finally, it may be necessary to withdraw points from your driving record. Anyone with a license has heard about the point system, which Florida and other states use to suspend and keep track of one’s driving record. If your points hit certain levels, your license will be suspended, insurance will be raised and/or other penalties relating to your driving history. If it’s necessary to withdraw prior pleas or find other creative remedies to get points withdrawn, our office has experience to do so. We have filed countless motions toward getting our client’s points withdrawn, so they can drive legally again.
